Hermann Frede
(1883-1965)completed an apprenticeship at the Baugewerkeschule in Münster, after which he was employed by the architect Muths in Münster, became a member of the Association of German Architects and from 1912 had his own architectural firm in Halle (Saale). Frede was one of the most important architects of the city. In the 1920s, he had up to 30 employees in his office. His works include the estate at Johannesplatz as well as numerous administrative, industrial and office buildings. After the Second World War, Frede worked as a senior architect in the design office of the Hochbau Halle / S. company, before becoming a freelance architect again later, in charge of the preservation and repair of old buildings and for private construction projects.
