Residential and commercial building
Brüderstraße 2
Built:
1927Architect:
Julius Kallmeyer, Wilhelm FacilidesThe four-storey residential and commercial building on the corner of Neunhäuser and Brüderstraße is based on a Wilhelminian building which stood on the same site.
It was designed by architects Julius Kallmeyer and Wilhelm Facilides in a moderately Modernist style. The building accentuates the intersection of the two streets with its Expressionist-influenced decoration. The horizontal arrangement of the stones, the bands of windows running around the corner and the shallow but very striking hip roof give the building a distinctive appearance.
Like Leipziger Straße 3, just a short walk away, the building on Neunhäuser is a good example of the ‘New Building’ style.
